Academic English (12 Weeks)
Academic English entails training students, usually in higher education setting, to use language appropriately for study focussing on more specific linguistic demands of a particular area of study.
By studying through our “Academic English Options” at Commonwealth School of Languages, you will have a chance to focus on your own particular learning objectives such as:
- Use a range of sentence types including simple, complex and compound to produce meaning
- Write organised paragraphs
- Plan, draft and write an extended essay:
- – synthesising your information
- Read texts for main ideas, details and writer’s opinions
- Locating information and reading for information gathering:
- – researching online
- – reading the internet
- Understand a certain context and taking notes for
- –paraphrasing
- – abbreviations
- Participate in groups and in class discussions
- Give opinions, disagree or agree effectively and politely
- Conduct oral presentations
- Make the online communication effective (email and posts)
