This course is designed to help you prepare for the Occupational English Test (OET)- a test that meets the English requirement for registration as a health care professional. It provides a valid and reliable assessment of all four language skills – listening, reading, writing and speaking – with an emphasis on communication in medical and health professional settings.
Who recognises OET?
OET is recognised and trusted by more than 30 regulatory healthcare bodies and councils in Australia, New Zealand and Singapore. Many organisations, including hospitals, universities and colleges, are using OET as proof of a candidate’s ability to communicate effectively in a demanding healthcare environment. In addition, OET is recognised by the Australian Department of Immigration and Border Protection for a number of visa categories, including work and student visas.
OET tests international health practitioners in the following 12 professions:
- Occupational Therapy
- Speech Pathology
- Veterinary Science
OET preparation at Commonwealth School of Languages focuses on giving you a clear understanding of the OET and its requirements while improving the four macro skills of reading, listening, writing and speaking. You will receive a clear guideline and feedback on your ability to communicate accurately in a clinical context, write profession specific documents, read and comprehend complex texts, and speak and listen in a variety of professional situations.
This course is structured around a series of mock tests to give you practice in the skills required to perform efficiently in the actual test.
